Could Life Have Existed on Mars?

For decades now, scientists have been attempting to discover the likelihood of life existing on Mars. Although NASA has assuredly claimed that the natural conditions on the planet could not possibly hope to play host to life – they are talking about the present, as there is in fact plenty of evidence supporting the fact that many years ago, life on Mars could well have been present. From signs of rivers and oceans, through to the remnants of atmospheric pressure – there may well have been life on the red planet and in this article, we’ll be exploring the theories behind these opinions.

Modern Life on Mars

According to extensive studies including samples returned from the Rover and high-range telescopes, Mars is now physically unable to maintain life. Not even the smallest organism is capable of surviving according to leading researchers, and any signs of water have been so depleted that bacteria couldn’t hope to exist for longer than a few seconds.

That means that there is currently zero chance of social media influencers visiting the planet as so many have mentioned they’d enjoy doing and no possibility of using CapCut templates to create a stylish video of their trip. That might not stop them from trying however, as CapCut has such a great selection of templates and themes to choose from, allowing even a beginner to turn their video into a work of art with minimal fuss.

By visiting their website and navigating to the templates section, users will find two main categories (Video and Image), as well as a search bar for those looking for a particular style or theme based on keywords, without watermarks.

Once chosen, the user will be able to customize each aspect of their selected template, including the images, content and even sounds – allowing them to create a personalized file that can be downloaded once completed. The entire process can take a matter of minutes, or longer if the user prefers to spend more time honing the details of their project.

If a controlled study was to be performed, experts agree that the results would likely be the same, with the potential for life on Mars currently being a resounding no.

Many students are signing up to programs that explore the concept of life on Mars and with MIT being a leading authority on research and investigation into these types of studies, there’s no better time than now to consider signing up for a course, or learning more in general.

Ancient Life on Mars

With more than two-thirds of Mars’s surface being older than 3.5 billion years, and the remaining third believed to have been formed as a result of space debris and collisions – Mars has a fairly distinctive history. Whether lifeforms made their way during these impacts, or were already present isn’t currently known, but what can be said is that traces of life-promoting particles have been discovered, although if they were already present, or a result of distant travel from asteroid explosions isn’t understood.

Scientists believe that Mars could well have been habitable for life roughly half a billion years before Earth had its earliest lifeforms – and this is an astounding revelation to consider.

What’s more is that as more students begin to study, new theories are being introduced and each of them could well provide an answer to the mystery of life on Mars.

If Earth was present, but without life, and Mars was present with life, what would have had to have happened to force such a switch in dynamic? This concept has fascinated researchers for years and is part of the reason why billionaires like Elon Musk are determined to terraform the planet and identify its history up close and personally.

Digging a Little Deeper

Although Mars has many distinguishing features, such as craters, large obelisk-sized rocks and its instantly recognizable red tone, there is also the presence of the Mariner Valley, or the Valles Marineris as it is known in Latin. This huge, 4 mile deep, 2500 mile long scar stretches across the portion of Mars – and no one knows why.

To put its size into perspective, even the grand canyon reaches a depth of just 1 mile, and stretches for 500 miles, making it a fifth of the length of the Mariner Valley, and 7 times as shallow.

There are many theories relating to what may have caused this scar – from a catastrophic event related to underground quakes and tremors, right through to an alien attack that decimated the lifeforms that called Mars their home. We may never know, but what can be said is that with the help of an AI image upscaler like the one used by CapCut, researchers have been able to enhance the photos taken of the scar on Mars and have identified key points that could provide answers in the future.

What Would Life Have Looked Like on Mars?

This is very difficult to say. Many experts believe that life would have been nothing more than organisms in their simplest form that just so happened to make their way to Earth after an extreme impact caused debris to ricochet, which may have led to the first life on Earth. Others believe that the species may well have evolved enough to have limbs and their own unique appearances. Fewer still are under the impression that Mars had a fully evolved civilization, complete with its own technologies and space travel potential.

Unfortunately, it can be easy to argue about the origins of Mars and what it may have looked like, but with so many studies pointing to the fact that life may well have been present there, the majority of experts agree that it could have appeared as a green paradise, complete with its own flora and fauna, not to mention a safe atmosphere that may have even relied on oxygen as Earth does for its inhabitants.

One day, these questions may be answered and until then, it can be an enjoyable concept to theorize and consider what could have been so many millions of years ago.
