A novel distributed clustering framework, called Distributed Clustering based on Distributional Kernel (K) or KDC, is proposed in this paper. The KDC framework produces final clusters based on the similarity of initial clusters’ distributions, measured by K. It satisfies three key properties: ensuring equivalent centralized and distributed outcomes, reducing runtime costs, and discovering clusters with arbitrary shapes, sizes, and densities. This framework employs a distributional kernel, which outperforms existing methods in clustering outcomes. Additionally, the paper introduces Kernel Bounded Cluster Cores, a new clustering algorithm that is the best performer when applied to KDC among existing algorithms. The KDC framework also enables a quadratic time clustering algorithm to handle large datasets previously impossible.
