A novel digital edition of Alessandro Manzoni’s “I promessi sposi” is created by applying translation alignment algorithms to eight languages. The MDE aims to enhance reader experience and support translation studies. Current state-of-the-art algorithms have limitations when applied to literary texts, so an automated pipeline is proposed for MDE creation. This pipeline transforms raw texts into web-based representations with different rendering options. New metrics are also proposed for evaluating alignment of literary translations.
