This paper extends Dung’s Abstract Argumentation Framework (AF) to incorporate supports and recursive attacks and supports. The Bipolar Argumentation Framework (BAF) and Recursive BAF (Rec-BAF) have been developed, allowing for more nuanced expression of arguments in Artificial Intelligence. However, existing semantics do not account for support cycles or are complex. This paper presents classical semantics for general BAF and Rec-BAF by defining modular sets of defeated and acceptable elements. It also characterizes the semantics in terms of logic programming and partial stable model semantics.
