Brain imaging analysis has become more effective thanks to deep learning advancements, but there are still challenges like different data types, individual variations, and small datasets. These issues make it hard for models to learn important patterns and might cause poor results due to biases or overfitting. Curriculum learning (CL) is a promising approach that helps models learn by organizing examples from simple to complex, similar to how humans learn. However, using small initial training sets can be tricky because it may lead to overfitting and poor generalization. To address this, the Progressive Self-Paced Distillation (PSPD) framework was developed. PSPD uses a pacing mechanism that adjusts curriculum levels based on previous models’ performance.
