A novel approach to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is presented in this paper, which addresses the limitations of previous studies that assume full observation of complex systems. The authors identify the issues of unobserved confounders and heterogeneity when dealing with partial observation, where some nodes or malfunction are missing. To overcome these challenges, they propose PORCA, a new RCA framework that leverages magnified score-based causal discovery to optimize acyclic directed mixed graphs under unobserved confounders. The framework also includes a heterogeneity-aware scheduling strategy for adaptive sample weights. Experimental results on synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of PORCA.
